Awareness Program Urges Action to Preserve Ganga and Himalayan Ecosystems

On the occasion of World Environment Day and Ganga Dussehra, a special awareness program was organized on June 5, 2025, at the India International Centre, New Delhi.

Chief Guest Shri Chirag Paswan, Cabinet Minister for Food Processing Industries, in his address, stated:

The most pressing need of our time is to protect our Ganga and the Himalayan Glaciers.. The government is fully committed and determined in this direction.”

The program witnessed participation from several eminent personalities from across the country. Notable among them were Shri Chetan Sharma, Additional Solicitor General, Government of India, Shri K.C. Mittal, Chairman, Delhi Bar Council, Shri Kishore Upadhyay, MLA, Tihri, Shri A.K. Bajpai, Vice President, LJP (Paswan), Shri Avinash Mishra, Advisor, NITI Aayog, Shri Shyamal Sarkar, Advisor, Tihri, Dr. G.V.R. Shastri, Environmental Expert, Shri Aalok Sinha, Ms. Ruby Sharma, Advocate and Member of Punjabi Academy, Anuj Kumar Chauhan, Advocate, Supreme Court of India, A.K. Porwal Advocate, Supreme Court of India.

The speakers expressed deep concern over the deteriorating condition of the Ganga and Himalayas and urged citizens to contribute to environmental conservation through small individual actions.

Dr. Himanshu Upadhyay, addressing the media and gathering, emphasized:

“Public awareness through such programs is very much important. Until society itself awakens and takes initiative, government efforts alone will not be sufficient.”

The event saw active participation from environmentalists, social workers, legal experts, officials, and students, who all shared their views and suggestions on the protection of the Ganga and The Himalyas.

The central message of the program was:

“Preserving the Ganga and The Himalyas is not just a religious or cultural duty, but a vital commitment for ensuring the survival of our future generations.”
