Muthoot Finance Donates Waste Movement Trolleys to Cochin Heritage Zone Conservation Society to Support Cleanliness Initiatives at Fort Kochi

Clean Kochi campaign

October 27, 2025: Muthoot Finance, India’s largest gold loan NBFC, in line with its commitment to environmental sustainability and community welfare, has extended CSR support to the Cochin Heritage Society, functioning under the District Tourism Promotion Council (DTPC), by providing waste movement trolleys to strengthen cleanliness and heritage conservation activities at Fort Kochi Beach.

As part of the initiative, Muthoot Finance has donated three waste movement trolleys – two three-wheeled and one four-wheeled – to ease the physically demanding work of waste collection and assist the 24-member cleaning team at the Cochin Heritage Zone Conservation Society, 20 of whom are women. These trolleys will help enhance efficiency, ensure safer handling of waste, and improve working conditions for the sanitation workers who strive daily to maintain the beach’s cleanliness.

The waste movement trolleys were formally handed over by Smt. Parvathy Gopakumar, IAS, Assistant Collector, Ernakulam, and Shri Vinodkumar K.S., Regional Manager, Ernakulam, Muthoot Finance, to Shri Bony Thomas, Nodal Officer, Cochin Heritage Zone Conservation Society, in the presence of Smt. Linda G Joy, Relationship Executive In-Charge, Fort Kochi; Shri Padmakumar P, Content Manager, Corporate Communications, Muthoot Finance; and other dignitaries from the Cochin Heritage Zone Conservation Society.

The project aims to improve waste management practices in the Fort Kochi coastal area, a region that faces severe waste accumulation due to inflow from the Vembanad Lake and Periyar River, especially during the opening of the Thanneermukkom Bund.

Speaking on the initiative, Shri. George M George, Deputy Managing Director, Muthoot Finance said, “Supporting sustainable community-driven initiatives like this reflects our broader commitment to environmental stewardship and dignified livelihoods. We are grateful to be partnering with the Cochin Heritage Zone Conservation Society and the District Administration in preserving the beauty and ecological balance of Fort Kochi”

Ms. Parvathy Gopakumar, IAS, Assistant Collector, Ernakulam, added, “This support from Muthoot Finance is a significant step towards not just cleaner beaches, but also empowering the dedicated sanitation staff by making their essential work safer and more efficient. Such strategic public-private collaborations are vital for preserving our heritage sites and demonstrating a model for effective coastal zone waste management.”

This initiative is part of Muthoot Finance’s broader CSR efforts aimed at promoting clean, safe, and inclusive communities through targeted local interventions that create long-term social and environmental impact.
