20th August 2025:  CBRE South Asia Pvt. Ltd., India’s leading real estate consulting firm, has partnered with the Child Heart Foundation (CHF) under its flagship CSR initiative ‘Ek Pehal’ to support the early detection of Congenital Heart Defects (CHD) in children. As part of this collaboration, a series of medical screening camps is being conducted across Gurugram and has successfully screened over 600 children, aged between 0 and 18 years, for early signs of CHD to date.

Six medical screening camps, conducted since April this year, have led to the identification of 15 suspected cases of CHD. Further diagnostic evaluations for these cases are currently underway. As of July, 14 children have received treatment under the initiative.

CBRE and CHF are also jointly conducting awareness sessions across Gurugram on congenital heart disease and have engaged with over 240 ASHA and Auxiliary Nurse Midwife (ANM) health workers so far. These sessions aim to strengthen early detection capabilities within communities by equipping frontline health workers with the necessary knowledge and tools.

The programme is slated to conduct a total of 12 medical camps and 12 awareness sessions by the end of the calendar year, with the objective of enabling treatment for 25 children diagnosed with congenital heart defects. Before each camp, volunteers from the Child Heart Foundation undertake door-to-door mobilisation in underserved communities to ensure broad-based participation.

Commenting on this initiative, Anshuman Magazine, Chairman & CEO – India, South-East Asia, Middle East & Africa, CBRE, said, “At CBRE, we believe that meaningful change begins when corporate purpose aligns with community needs. ‘Ek Pehal’ is not just a health initiative, it embodies our commitment to advancing health equity and supporting underserved populations. The outcomes achieved so far highlight the critical importance of sustained, on-ground action, and we remain committed to driving initiatives that create long-term impact where it’s needed most.”

“This initiative is designed to take healthcare to where it’s needed most, inside communities that often go unseen by the system. Our experience in Gurugram shows that early diagnosis is not only possible, but necessary, if we are to prevent avoidable suffering,” said Dr Vikas Kohli, Founder of Child Heart Foundation.

The consistent turnout at the camps underlines the importance of community-driven healthcare interventions in addressing congenital heart disease among children.
