Advanced Micro Devices supported over 150,000 students over the past financial year through a series of education and workforce development initiatives aimed at expanding access to technology education in underserved communities.
The company executed STEM projects at over 500 government schools in Delhi NCR, Karnataka, and Telangana. 55 of these schools were transformed with state-of-the-art STEM labs, while seven mobile science labs brought hands-on learning to over 20,000 students in remote communities. In parallel, seven community science centres were established, serving as collaborative learning spaces for 6,000 students across 27 government schools.
The programs were aimed at building curiosity and confidence in technology. Hands-on exposure to electronics, robotics, and AI-ML tools helped students develop a foundational understanding of robotics and automation.
“AMD is honored to give back to the communities where we live and work,” said Jaya Jagadish, Country Head & SVP Design Engineering, AMD India. “For us, supporting STEM education is essential to building a more equitable society one where every young person has the opportunity to learn, innovate, and shape the future. Our commitment goes beyond funding programs. Our employees actively contribute through volunteering, mentoring, and hands-on engagement, helping create meaningful and lasting impact. AMDers bring a deep sense of social responsibility, reflecting a culture where giving back is not just encouraged, but is fundamental to who we are.”
To strengthen foundational technical skills among students, AMD also set up digital education centres in nine government schools and one urban slum in Hyderabad and introduced digital learning classes in even schools in Karnataka. Digital Education Centre in a government school is a dedicated space where students learn basic computer skills, digital literacy, and technology-enabled learning.
Workforce Training Targets Employment Gaps
In addition to these initiatives in schools, AMD established six workforce development projects designed toimprove employability among India’s youth. The company opened two IT and IT-enabled services skill development centres in Bangalore and Delhi, training over 2,400 individuals.
An additional 450 students across four Industrial Training Institutes in Delhi received specialized training in Electronics System Design and Manufacturing (ESDM). More than 40% of these students secured employment during the project period.
AMD worked with the rural local body of Davanagere in Karnataka, to set up 21 digital classrooms in government run Pre-University Colleges. These smart classrooms enabled local students, especially girls, get access to high-quality Joint Entrance Exam (JEE) coaching without leaving their communities. In India, JEE is the national entrance exam for admission to undergraduate programs at government run premier engineering colleges including IITs, NITs, and IIITs. The initiative benefited over 6,500 students, bridging the gap between rural education and world-class learning opportunities.
AMD India, in partnership with the Foundation for Science Innovation and Development (FSID) at the Indian Institute of Science (IISc), Bangalore, has extended CSR support to AAGYAVISION, a deep-tech start-updeveloping advanced imaging and sensing technologies. The collaboration aims to strengthen India’s semiconductor innovation ecosystem and promote AI-driven radar solutions for civilian security. Through this initiative, AMD reinforces its commitment to STEM advancement and scientific research in India.
Employee Volunteers Drive Impact Through Compassion
Through 2025 AMD employees actively participated in a variety of community initiatives hosted in partnership with NGOs. Over 1,800 volunteers dedicated their time to causes including STEM education, sustainability, disaster relief, and health services.
Employees also participated in activities ranging from mentoring and school improvements to material drives and meal packing. Together they packed 65,000 meals with Rise Against Hunger, donated 329 units of blood, planted 200 saplings, crafted 4,000 paper bags, 68 educational charts, supported wheelchair donations, education kit distributions and assembled 100 solar lamps for rural and flood-affected communities.
